Renetta "Hazel" Zang

December 24th, 1926 to January 6th, 2014

Renetta “Hazel” Zang, 87, of Ruby, died Monday, January 6, 2014 of pneumonia.

She was born December 24, 1926 in Detroit to the late James and Hazel Lane. She married Vernon Zang, Sr. on December 1, 1945 in Clawson. After 62 years together, he died March 6, 2008.

Mrs. Zang was a homemaker most of her life. She worked in the family grocery store as a young girl and later in life worked at Super Kmart and Meijer. She was a member of the May O’Brien VFW Post #8465 Auxiliary and had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by four children, Vernon (Katherine) Zang Jr., Kenneth (Kimberly) Zang, Terry (Gary) Porhola and Nancy Smith (Gerard Jasinski); 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Lane; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie Zang; her twin sister, Loretta “Midge” (Russell Sr.) Sutter; and her brother, Clifford “Buzz” Lane.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Ruby Cemetery, Clyde Township. Pallbearers will be Hazel’s grandsons.
