Wayne Sheldon

April 13th, 1935 to February 3rd, 2014

Wayne Arthur Sheldon, 78, of Fort Gratiot Township, passed away on February 3, 2014 after a short illness. He was peaceful and with loved ones during his last days and final moments.

Wayne was born on April 13, 1935 in Lexington. He was the son of the late Frank Sheldon and Omah and Leroy Massman.

Education was very important to Wayne. He graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1952. He continued his education at St. Clair County Community College and Port Huron School of Business where he became a Certified Public Accountant. He worked at Prestolite from 1953 to 1969. He sold insurance for a short period of time and then began working as accountant and office manager at By-Lo Oil in 1969. He continued his work at By-Lo until his retirement in 1997.

Wayne married the love of his life, Margaret Mae Bolton-Sheldon, on December 2, 1955. They shared a birthday, three sons and many happy years together. They also have 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Wayne spent all of his free time enjoying life with his family and friends. He was a member at The Elks where he loved to golf (showing off his skill with his 9 wood). He also spent many years bowling, taking care of his cars (the second love of his life), and spending time with family and friends at the family cottage in Lexington.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marge; three sons, Monte Sheldon, Mark (Cheryl) Sheldon, Mike (Jodi) Sheldon; grandchildren, (Mortishia Pruitt, Zachary, Dustin, Abbie, Trent, Owen and Steve Sheldon; five great grandchildren; brother, Casey (Janet) Massman; dear cousins, Alice and Phil Marsom; good friend and sister-in-law, Rose; and nieces and nephews, Caroline, Larry Cindy, and Sandy (John) Anderson. He also leaves behind his dog, Sadie, who was very special to Wayne.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Terry, and his special brother and dear friend, Roger in 2012.

Visiting will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the funeral home with visiting from 10am. The Reverend Barry Sheldon will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.

Memorials for Wayne may be made to Blue Water Hospice.
