Lyle Albert Warner, 89, of Harsens Island, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 after a long illness.

He was born on April 21, 1924 in Algonac to the late Norman and Sylvia Warner. He married Jacqueline Duncan on August 23, 1950 in Marysville United Methodist Church.

Throughout his life Lyle always loved music. As a boy soprano he performed weekly on WWJ morning radio. After graduation from high school, Lyle served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. During his time in the service he operated the Bachelor Officers’ Quarters in Hawaii and was invited to be in the Blue Jackets choir. In 1955 Lyle founded the Warner Brothers Foundry. While he struggled at first, his perseverance led to a successful business that his son Lonn still operates today. In retirement, Lyle enjoyed being an active member of the Harsens Island community and spending winters in Lakeland, Florida.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacqueline; a son and daughter-in-law, Lonn and Deborah Warner; a daughter, Cathie Warner; two grandchildren, Derek Warner and his wife Sarah, and Kyle Warner; and many dear friends in Lakeland including Joyce Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Warner; and his sister, Priscilla Cullimore.

A private family gathering celebrating Lyle’s life will take place at his home on Harsens Island.

Memorials can be made to Blue Water Hospice in appreciation for the outstanding and compassionate care they gave to Lyle and his entire family.
