Vern E Ingram

Vern Ervin Ingram, 78, of Marysville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 surrounded by his family.

He was born August 13, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Ervin and Majessia Ingram. He married Helen West on September 3, 1960 in Port Huron.

Mr. Ingram served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Chrysler Corporation for 26 years prior to his retirement. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff for St. Clair County, former patrolman with the Marysville Police Department and member of the Marysville City Council.

He was a life member and Post Adjutant of the J. Edward Mallorey Marysville American Legion Post #449, member of the V.F.W. May O’Brien post #8465, Marysville Masonic Lodge #498 F. & A.M. and longtime member of First Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed sports, participating as a baseball coach in the Modified Softball League and a basketball coach for the Lady Skippers. He was also a Detroit Tigers Fan. He loved being out on the water, fishing and hunting. He will be fondly remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Linda (Ronald) Boddy; son, Edward (Virginia) Ingram; grandchildren, Sarah (Erik) Griffith, Stacey (Jim Westrick) Vollstaedt, Matthew Vollstaedt and Rachelle Boddy; great grandchildren, Olivia Griffith and Zachary Westrick; sister, Vonda Tosch; brothers-in-law, William (Susan) West and Dennis (Nancy) West); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Manning and Marion Vance.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in Marysville Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Marysville Funeral Home. Reverend Steven Kopp will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.

Pallbearers will be Erik Griffith, Jim Westrick, Jim Benson, Jim Smith, Jack Anderson, Ed Kidder, Tom Schef and Dave Banyas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Hahn, Bill West, Dennis West and Matthew Vollstaedt.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Blue Water Hospice.
