Obituary

Loren Leo Reid, 83, of Lakeport passed away Friday, October 30, 2015.

He was born October 2, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Cyrus and Almeda Reid. He spent most of his life in the Port Huron area and New Jersey. He married Ruth Ann Lazorchak on May 2, 1954 in Paramas, New Jersey. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2013 after almost 59 years of marriage.

Mr. Reid was stationed at Albrook A.F.B in Panama with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following the war, he graduated from Farleigh Dickenson University in 1960 and was a past member of the American Chemists Society and the American Society of Lubrication Engineers. After graduation he was employed in New Jersey by Curtis Wright and then Thermo Fiber Kinetics where he developed Apollo rocket components. After returning to Michigan, he worked for Consumers Energy for 10 years and then retired from Detroit Edison as a Senior Engineering Technician after 15 years. During that time he was the recipient of the coveted Alex Dow Award. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and flying airplanes. He was a longtime member of the Port Huron/Sarnia Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was ordained a Priest in November 2014.

Mr. Reid is survived by his sons, Bruce Reid and Wayne (Jackie) Reid; grandchildren, Emily Reid and Corey (Danielle) Reid; two great grandchildren; sister, Jeanea Torrey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Purcell.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Tuesday and 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, November 5, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Elders Ron Giles and Dave Teeple will officiate. Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
