Robert Walter Gresell, 76, of Marysville, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

He was born July 18, 1940 in Detroit to the late Walter and Sophie Gresell.

Mr. Gresell was a teacher in St. Peters Catholic School in Harper Woods and the Marysville School District for 37 years. He was a lifetime member of the NEA and MEA. He served as past Lt. Commander of the Port Huron Power Squadron, past member of the International Shipmasters, and loved sailing and cruising the Great Lakes. He enjoyed traveling, photography and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; three children, Robert M. Gresell, Mark (Terri) Gresell and Matthew (Stacy) Gresell; a daughter-in-law, Karen Gresell; nine grandchildren, Justin (Lindsey) Gresell, Nicole (Nathan) Charboneau, Jacqueline (Brady) Hourtienne, Patrick (Sara) Gresell, Paige Gresell, Morgan Gresell, Maryn Gresell, Nathan Gresell and Gibson Gresell; five great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Shah (Steve) Mahanes; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Wanda Lee; brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Lee; and sister-in-law, Deb (Bill) O’Neill. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Charles Wilkins; and a brother-in-law, Navin Shah.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.
