Laura Jane (DeSmith) Maison

Laura Jane (DeSmith) Maison passed away in the close presence of her family on January 11, 2018. Laura was born on January 12, 1924 in Mount Clemens to the late Achiel and Alma DeSmith. She married Stanley Bernard “Red” Maison on October 4, 1952 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mount Clemens and shortly after that started a family having triplets and later twins. Stanley preceded her in death on February 25, 2007. Laura attended St. Mary’s High School and while she was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone made the first call overseas. She was always a friendly neighbor and active community participant. She was an accomplished gourmet throughout her life and was especially known for her French flavorings. In retirement, she and her husband split their residence between Marysville, Michigan where they were both active at the Marysville Golf Club, and Cocoa Beach, Florida where she was an avid beach walker, socialite at the Saturn Condominiums, and luxury ocean cruiser out of Port Canaveral. Laura is survived by four children, James Maison of Marysville, Ann (Robert) Klein of Richmond, Amy (Michael) Murawka of Oxford, and Jane (Michael) Colson of Kamuela, Hawaii; five grandchildren, Bobby (Katie) Klein, Andrew (Kristy) Klein, Matthew Murawka, Pieter Colson, and Luke (Jessica) Colson; and four great grandchildren, Anna, Kaylee, Everett and Harvey. A private family Funeral Mass will be conducted at St Christopher Catholic Church followed by committal at Riverlawn Cemetery in Marysville, Michigan.
