John R McNinch

May 8th, 1927 to February 1st, 2018

John Robert McNinch, 90, of Burtchville Township, died Thursday, February 1, 2018.

He was born May 8, 1927 in San Francisco and raised by the late Nathaniel and Ethelyn McNinch.

John retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years serving during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He also retired from Foster Oil. John enjoyed golfing, bowling and racing horses. He was also active with the Masons and Shriners, and a member of the Noruh Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. John’s family was most important to him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Ron) Surline; grandchildren, Kellie (David) Fenner, Abbie (Keith) Brown, Elizabeth (Michael) Bowen and Christopher (Ashley) Surline; great grandchildren, Jewel Fenner, Madison Bowen, Nolan Bowen, Eli Wargo and Weston Surline; many nieces and nephews; and his sister-in-law, Sally McNinch. John was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Surline; and his brother, Harold “Reb” McNinch.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council.
