William C Mortimer

September 18th, 1931 to February 12th, 2018

William Cecil Mortimer, 86, of Fort Gratiot and formerly of Grosse Pointe, died Monday, February 12, 2018.

He was born September 18, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Cecil and Leda Mortimer. He married Ingrid Petersen on December 20, 1955 in Grosse Pointe.

William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for 45 years with Miller & Company in Chicago. William enjoyed skiing, boating and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ingrid; children, Krysta Mortimer, Ingrid (Mitch) Shirar and Christopher (Gina) Mortimer; grandchildren, Christian, Gabrielle, P.T., Christopher, Nick, Max, Ingrid, Gretchen and Jadyen; great grandchildren, Zack and Abe; sister, Nan Jorgensen; nephews, Bill and Jim Jorgensen; and best friend and canine companion, Max the Leader Dog. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Baby Mitch; and brother, Victor Mortimer.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. The Reverend Barbara E. Welbaum will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium.
