Obituary

Jerald Larry Brown, 76, of Fort Gratiot, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 24, 2018, surrounded by the love of his life, Diane L. Brown, dying peacefully in his home, while in hospice care after a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born on September 7, 1941 in Marlette, into the loving care of his parents, Myrtle and Earl Brown and was raised on a farm. He was one of nine siblings, many of whom had gone before him, and he is survived by one remaining sibling, Eleanor Burger; and two brothers-in-law, Wally Burger and Jim Lowe.

He was a 1959 graduate of Marlette High School and Mott Community College. He was a long time Journeyman and Industrial Electrician for General Motors and was the head electrician for Buick City in Flint, until his retirement in 1999 after 30 years of service.

Jerald had a great love for the outdoors, camping, gardening, traveling, playing board games with his family and was a handyman who could fix anything. His grandchildren remember him being an avid roller coaster rider at Cedar Point and spending many hours with them in his garden and orchard. Jerry had an undying love for sports of all kinds, and was especially a fan of Michigan football and basketball games.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane; daughters, Kay (Kenny) Brazier, Kathy (Bill) Pawelko, Tricia (Steve) Meade, and Laurie (David) Goetze; Grandpa “Bumpa” Jerry adored his grandchildren, Lindsay (Dave) LaBelle, Catherine Goetze, Alexis (Wesley) Nordin, Ryan (Adrienne) Hill, Mike (Jessi) Hill, Katie Threlkeld and Holly Morrison. He was also a great-grandpa to eight great-grandchildren; and is survived by several nieces and nephews

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Colonial Woods Missionary Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverends Brian Ake, Bob Keller and David Goetze will officiate. Special music will be performed by Katie Threlkeld. Memorial scripture readings will be given by Dr. Lindsay LaBelle, Catherine Goetze and Alexis Nordin.

Memorials may be made to the Colonial Wood Missionary Church or McLaren Hospice.
