Gloria J. Mattox

May 1st, 1936 to April 21st, 2018

Gloria Jean (Withun) Mattox, 81, of Port Huron, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 21, 2018, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Gloria went to be with the Lord in the same way she lived life, with gracefulness and quiet dignity. Gloria loved the Lord and was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends.

She was born May 1, 1936 in Capac to the late Mary Withun. She married her one and only true love, Ronald David Mattox on September 10, 1955. They were blessed with 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Gloria graduated from Port Huron High School in 1955 and worked in women’s accessories at JC Penney, retiring after 28 years. She and the other retirees always got together each month for lunch and to catch up.

She is survived by her husband Ronald D. Mattox; two sons, Leonard (Amy) Mattox and Timothy Paul (Kimberly) Mattox; five grandchildren, Madison Mattox, Justin (Ariel) Mattox, Joshua Mattox, Robin (Chris) Mattox-Burge and Allison Mattox; and three great-grandchildren, Rilee Mattox, Ryan Mattox and Jenson Burge. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Withun and her brother, Elmer Withun, and they are now all together in Heaven.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Griswold Street Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Timothy North will officiate.

Gloria had a heart for missions and she and her family ask that donations be made in her name to the missions program at Griswold Street Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
