Ida D Engleson

November 21st, 1922 to December 21st, 2011
Ida Dobbs Engleson, 89, originally of San Antonio, Texas and longtime Port Huron resident, passed away on December 21, 2011 following a stroke in her home.

Ida was a teacher in the Port Huron Area School District for 18 years and later served on the school board. She obtained her Master’s degree in Elementary Teaching from Michigan State University and loved children of all ages. Ida was also an original member of the Port Huron International Club in which she was able to share her travel experiences with others. She was an incredibly loving, vibrant and generous person who loved gardening, reading, traveling around the world, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Dobbs and Linda Glover; her daughter-in-law Linda Dobbs; five grandchildren, Sherrilynn Dobbs, Robert Glover, Jessica Glover, Tracey Dobbs and Kyle Dobbs; six great-grandchildren, Caleb Dobbs, Vaughn Springer, Nigel Springer, Christian Glover, Brendan Glover and Dameon Dobbs; brother, Donald Clawson; and sisters, Wanda Godsey and Irene Drennan.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace Dobbs of San Antonio Texas; her second husband, Thomas Engleson of Sarnia, Ontario; her son, Wallace Dobbs Jr. of Port Huron; her son-in-law, Bob Glover of Clarkston, Michigan; and her sister, Angela Anderson of Columbus, Ohio.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation and time to remember Ida from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Monday, December 26, 2011 in Pollock Randall Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation Port Huron Area School District Fund. The contributions will provide higher education scholarships for veterans and their children in St. Clair County.
