Evelyn R Bailey

Evelyn Ruth Bailey, 91, of Shelby Township, formerly of Port Huron, died Saturday, February 4, 2012.

She was born on May 25, 1920 to the late William and Edith Victoria Raschke. She married Ross Bailey on June 17, 1950 in Port Huron. He died January 29, 1991.

Evelyn worked for many years at Prestolite Wire and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, knitting, crocheting, and playing games, especially Scrabble. She was a phenomenal cook and an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie (William) Hamden, Gerald (Judy) Bailey, Marlene Ross, Kay (Ken) Johnson, John “Tim” (Fran) Bailey, Ruth Schieb, Sharon (Donald) Woolley and Bob (Gigi) Bailey; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Louise Beach and Edith Mary (Paul) Carr; a sister-in-law, Doris Raschke; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Raschke; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Ann and Lambert Sterling; a granddaughter; and a great grandson.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. M. Jacob Kaufman will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be John Bailey, John Rosenberg, William Hamden, Justin Kruger, James Kruger and Cody Steinhaus.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ or Beaumont Hospice.
