George Kigar

March 27th, 1931 to March 24th, 2012
George William Kigar, 80, of Kimball Township, died Saturday, March 24, 2012.

He was born March 27, 1931 in Maidstone, Ontario to the late Clair M. and Anna Mae Kigar. He married Beatrice Heabert on November 15, 1953. She died January 13, 1997.

George worked for several companies including Stroh’s Brewery, and after retirement volunteered for many years with Downriver Helping Hands in Marine City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed watching the Red Wings, hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Melanie (Alton) Lowe of North Carolina and George Harris of Port Huron; eight great grandchildren, Jeremy Neff, Tristan, Kayla, and Jennifer Lowe, Chelsea Harris-Brown, Kiley Guitar, and Kyra and Haley Harris; three step-children, Phillip Stephens, Caryn (Doug) Foster, and Ronald (Irene) Stephens; eight step-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank (Gerry) Kigar of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Benedict, and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6:00 p.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
