John A Kota

John Kota, 89, of Marysville, died Monday, September 24, 2012.

He was born April 12, 1923 in Port Huron. He grew up in South Park, attended Marysville High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Mary Kota on February 16, 1946 in Port Huron. He lived most of his life in Marysville.

He worked for Pressed Metals Corporation, Allied Products Corporation, the City of Marysville and Chrysler Corporation. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

He was a loyal and patient caregiver to Mary, his wife of sixty-two years, during the twelve years that she suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nancy Kota of Davidson, NC; two granddaughters, Emily Kota of Charlotte, NC, and Megan Morris and her husband, Wade, of Atlanta, GA; a great-granddaughter, Jane Morris; nieces and nephews; and his neighbors and special friends, the Rogers family.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in St. John’s United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Port Huron.
