Frank J Socha
Frank J. Socha III, 82, a longtime resident of Ferndale, died January 15, 2014 in his home. He was born June 7, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Frank J. & Edna Socha. He married Margaret Catherine Jehl on October 5, 1957 in Port Huron. Mr. Socha was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having proudly served in the Korean War. He retired from the Ferndale Public Schools and then spent his time collecting antiques, wood carving and gardening. He enjoyed sewing, puttering and saving precious items. He used his sense of humor to bring out the best in people. He was kindness & patience, silliness & love, always forever in our hearts. We love you, Pop. He was a beloved and devoted husband of 56 years to Margaret; father, teacher of life & laughter to Denise (Kevin) Smith, Karen (Richard) Slotness, Brian Socha, Teresa Young and Andrew (Wendy) Socha; wonderful, fun-loving grandfather to Barry, Michael, Andrew, Emily, Maurice, Oscar, Bryce and Brooke; much-loved great grandfather to Quentin & Chloe; brother to Donna Schweihofer, David (Yvonne) Socha and Judy (Ken) Langmesser; and special “cat dad” of Mr. Oscar. The family also extends their special thanks and gratitude to Frank’s longtime caregivers, especially Pat Durkee & Chateca Pressley and to Hospice of Michigan for their kindness and compassion. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron with a funeral service following at 4 p.m. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the Allied Veterans Council.
