Ruth H Mohni
Ruth Helen Mohni, 85, of Port Huron, entered into eternal peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
She was born October 26, 1928 in Summit, New Jersey to the late Andrew and Harriet Peterson.
She graduated from Summit High School and worked as a telegraph operator for Western Union. On April 29, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart and one true love, Otto “Dick” Mohni. In 1961, they moved to Port Huron where they opened Port Huron Pastry Shop. Years later they ran The Little Teapot Restaurant and Pine Tree Motel. Ruth expressed her joys and sorrows through writing poems, compiling them into a book for her family. She loved gardening, swimming and wading along ocean beaches looking for shells and sea life.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Dick; four children, Robert Mohni, Jesse (Pamela) Mohni, Richard Mohni and Nancy (Darrin) O’Donnell; ten grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and her loving niece, Ruth Moore. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne; and a granddaughter, Jessica.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Kevin M. Totty, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be Richard, Jesse, Robert and Jordan Mohni and Craig and Larry Shuck.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Centered Community Church.
