William I Lindke
William Irvin “Bill” Lindke, 72, of North Street, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
He was delivered by the midwives in the house next door in Croswell on June 21, 1941, son of the late Irvin and Thelma Lindke.
Bill graduated from Croswell High School in 1959 and from Central Michigan University in 1964. He worked with Campus Crusade for Christ for several years where he met and married Ellen Marie Miles on August 25, 1967 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pacific Palisades, California. He moved to Rochester in 1968 and taught math at Oakland Christian High School in Pontiac. In 1978, they moved to Marysville and Bill taught math at Marysville High School until he retired in 2006. He was a member of Ross Bible Church in Port Huron. Bill’s passion was researching and teaching creationism and he also enjoyed calculus.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ellen; daughter, Sherry Lindke Lucas from Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren Alanah and Caleb Lucas; a brother, Larry Lindke; sisters-in-law Gale Lindke, Sandra (Gerald Lomax) Miles, and Jo Ann (Bruce) Veenker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lindke.
Visitation will be from 1-3 & 5-7 on Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Steve Scott will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Answers in Genesis or the Institute for Creation Research, organizations that seek to affirm the truth of the biblical record of the real origin and history of the world and mankind.
