Evelyn Bloink

April 5th, 1921 to March 14th, 2014
Evelyn Bloink, 92, of Kimball Township, died Friday March 14, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born April 5, 1921 in Port Huron to the late Angus and Pearl Preston. She married her soul mate, August J. “Augie” Bloink Jr. on May 25, 1940 in Marysville. He died October 6, 2008 after 68 years of marriage.

Mrs. Bloink was a member of St. Christopher Church in Marysville for 74 years. She was employed in the kitchen for several years with the P.H.A.S.D. at Ruth N. Bacon School and Port Huron Northern. She was known as the nurse to her family and whenever there was a need, she was there giving a helping hand. Ironically, she had always wanted to be a nurse, but the responsibility of helping her siblings enabled her to see her dream. During the winter, she passed time with her puzzles, but always was waiting for a visit or phone call from her family. She loved to play Parcheesi with Betty, Lil or anyone she could con into playing, and was a fierce competitor. She looked forward to daily talks with her cousin, Edith, and daily mail and paper delivery by cousins Ken and Nancy. She enjoyed being with her trusted, loving dog, Gidget, who always brought a smile to her face and laughter to her voice. She is survived by a daughter, Betty (Jerry) Riopelle, a son, Leonard (Carol) Bloink, a daughter-in-law, Lorrie Bloink; seven grandchildren, Charles (Kim) Newberry, Daniel (Tammy) Newberry, Derek (Colleen) Newberry, Brian Bloink, Keith (Becky) Bloink, Steven Bloink and Clara Bloink; ten great grandchildren, Garrett & Chance Newberry, Corey, Cody, Gabe, and Seth Bloink, Michael Riopelle, Lorren Bloink, Kelsey & Jessica Newberry; sister, Marjorie Murdock; sisters-in-law, Lillian Gilbert & Katherine Hines; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend and stand-in daughter, Wendy Wilson. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Bloink.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bloink will lie in state in St. Christopher Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m The Rite of Interment will follow in Caswell Cemetery.
