Roger G. “Butch” Simmons, 73, of Kimball Township died Wednesday, July 9, 2014.
He was born November 23, 1940 in Sparlingville to the late Glen “Sarge” and Annabelle Simmons. He married Cynthia Gossman on November 3, 1973 in Port Huron.
Mr. Simmons was a 1959 graduate of Marysville High School and was employed in the maintenance department of the Marysville School District for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Marysville Post 449. He was a charter member of the former Smiths Creek Lions Club. He enjoyed visiting the family cabin in Lewiston and traveling to the Upper Peninsula.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia; son, Ryan Simmons; aunt, Ardis Hunger; sisters-in-law, Bethany Belanger and Laurel Crorey; brothers-in-law, Gregory Gossman and Richard Gossman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A time of remembrance and military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance will be held at 11:30 am Monday, July 14, 2014 in the American Legion Marysville Post 449 with visitation one hour prior.
Memorials may be made to the Charles Myron and Betty Gossman Veterans Fund at the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.
