Edwina Lois “Winnie” Engmann, 81, of Port Huron, formerly of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Eustis, Florida, peacefully entered eternal life on August 26, 2014.
She was born September 13, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Frank and Evelyn Shafer. She was the youngest of three siblings and grew up in Franklin Park, Illinois. Winnie married her best friend, Larry Engmann, on August 1, 1953 and they just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Winnie was a gifted seamstress. Her mother said she was “born with a needle in her hand.” Winnie loved the 21 years that she worked at The Fabric Shop in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was a member of Marysville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, fishing and playing cards.
Her memory lives on through her family; husband, Larry; daughter, Karen (Steve) Tucker; son, Bill (Chen) Engmann; grandchildren, Katie (Ron) Cox, Casey Tucker and Jimmy Engmann; and great granddaughter, Morgan Cox. She was preceded in death by a brother, F. Lee (Marge) Shafer; and a sister, Roberta “Bobbie” (Walter) Geno.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 in Marysville United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. The Reverend Barbara Welbaum will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
