Raymond N White
Raymond Nelson White, 83, of Marysville, died Thursday, September 18, 2014.
He was born August 25, 1931 in Hazel Park to the late Nelson and Jane White.
Mr. White served in the U.S. Navy aboard USS LSM 399 as a Yeoman and was also a recruiter for the Navy in Detroit. He served for 5 years, nine months and 28 days; but as Ray would say, “Who’s counting.”
He was a retired engineer and tool & die maker. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His last great adventure was owning a gold mine in Arizona. He told his family his biggest dream was to stand in a river and pan for gold. He never did any panning, but he did find the gold.
He is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” White; five children, Ann-Therese “Teri” (Jim) Reeves, Sharon (Jeff) Bohun, Lawrence White, Gary (Cindy) White and Gerald (Lisa) White; four step children, Richard (Elly) Fowler, Robert (Vicki) Fowler, Deborah (Jay) Fredrich and Victoria (Danny) Fuentis; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia, and his sister, Jeanette Strilcov.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visiting beginning at 10:30 a.m. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy. The Reverend Joseph Gagnon will officiate.
Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, at a later date.
