Janet Ruth Furness
Janet Ruth Furness, 78, a lifelong resident of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, February 13, 2015.
She was born November 12, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Lester and Ruth Rawlings. She married Clayton Furness on March 30, 1956 in Fort Gratiot.
Mrs. Furness and her husband were lifelong dairy farmers. They were members of the Michigan Milk Producers Association for over 30 years and during that time sent their milk to London’s Farm Dairy.
In her earlier years, Janet also worked at Kresge’s and Prestolite Wire. She was a longtime member of North Street United Methodist Church. Janet loved hosting others at the family farm and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends and feeding them meals.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clayton; son, Ted (Cindy) Furness; grandchildren, Christopher and Shari Furness; brother, Albert Rawlings (fiancé Sandy Hayden); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in North Street United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend David Reed will officiate. Burial will follow in Burtchville Township Cemetery.
