Eric E Cedervall
Alf-Eric Emanuel Cedervall, 87, of Port Huron, died Monday, February 23, 2015.
He was born March 26, 1927 in Peking, China, the youngest of three sons of the late Anton and Sara Cedervall. His parents were Salvation Army officers and missionaries and lived in China until Eric was 13 years old. The family eventually moved to the United States and he later served in the U.S. Army.
Eric was married to Grace (Mahosky) Cedervall for 20 years and they raised five children. He worked as a graphic artist and spent many evenings in his basement office doing extra work to provide for his family. He was an adjunct professor at SC4 for several years.
Eric was a former member of the Schubert Men’s Chorus, the Symphony Singers and the First Congregational Church choir. He played trombone in the Senior Band. He also enjoyed playing and watching tennis and was a former youth soccer coach.
He is survived by four children, Wayne VanBuskirk, Terry VanBuskirk, Vicki (Kirk) Edwards and Andrew Cedervall; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Dolinski, Terry VanBuskirk Jr., Kevin (Brittney) Edwards, Justin (Trisha) Edwards and Katie Snuggs; and five great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory is his very dear friend, Beverley Hardman. He was preceded in death by his son, Allan Eric Cedervall in 2014; and two brothers, Arne and Anton.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 in First Congregational Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or First Congregational Church.
