Llewellyn Brown
Llewellyn “Sam” Brown Jr., 86, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
He was born July 16, 1928 in Eclectic, Alabama to the late LueEllen and Lena Brown. He married Mary Gilmore on April 12, 1952 in New Haven. She died October 19, 2005.
Mr. Brown retired from New Haven Foundry and also farmed for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Cathedral of Praise for almost 60 years and served as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and coaching basketball, baseball and women’s softball.
He is survived by seven children, Oliver (Betty) Evans, Norman Harris, Jerilyn Brown, Patricia (Michael) Brown, Willie Brown, Donnell (fiancé, Patricia Beavers) Brown and Alonzo (Julie) Brown; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Zion Cathedral of Praise. Pastor Kim Brown will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance and the U.S. Army.
