Alfonso Artrip

Alfonso Artrip, 73, of Wales Township died Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

He was born March 2, 1942 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Jethro and Cora Jane Artrip. He married Virginia Irene McPhail on October 7, 1967.

Mr. Artrip served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following the service he was employed as a millwright for 31 years with Chrysler Corporation. He played blue grass music his entire life, especially his guitar, banjo and mandolin.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Virginia Lynn Artrip and Donna Fay (Michael) Precour; grandsons, Michael and Mason Artrip; and granddaughters, Alexandria Precour and Gabrielle Precour who followed in her grandfather’s love of music. He was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Pastor Randall E. Clark will officiate. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.

Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Wales Township. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert, Ron and Tim McPhail, Michael Artrip, Steven Gura and Michael Precour.
