Donald A Dell

Donald Arthur Dell, 87, of Port Huron, died Saturday, September 19, 2015.

He was born May 9, 1928 in Port Huron to the late John and Ada Dell. He married Dorothy Joan Parker on September 19, 1948 in Yale.

Mr. Dell was a graduate of Port Huron High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan. He was a painter and business agent for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades #1474, which later became Local #1025, until his retirement in 1991.

He was an avid hunter, often traveling to the Mesick area to hunt deer and pheasant. He was also an avid golfer, going on many outings with his “buddies” from the Willow Ridge Golf Club.

Mr. Dell was a member of the Moose Lodge #158. He was a charter member and life member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #343 and charter member of Willow Ridge Golf Course. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796, Oasis Club Moslem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Port Huron Lodge #58 F. & A.M. and the Blue Water Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; son, Lawrence (Vicki) Dell; daughter, Diane (Daniel) Beedon; grandchildren, D. Scott (Karla) Beedon, Phillip (Leah) Dell, Tara (Derek) Andrews and Lisa (David) Montross; great grandchildren, Daniel Beedon, Tyler Andrews, Zachary, Joshua and Jonathan McGuire, McKenna, Madison and Megan Beedon and Lana Andrews; brother, Robert (Mary) Dell; sister, Shirley (Alan) Crawford; sister-in-law, Lois Dell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his great grandaughter, Morgan Dell; and siblings, John Dell, James Dell, Dorothy Lavere, Marian Gabler, Gladys Thibdaue, Phyllis White, Marjorie McKay and Betty Dell.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour prior. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Military honors will be provided under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
