Doreen J Joyce

October 27th, 1929 to November 14th, 2015
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doreen J. Joyce, 86, of Port Huron on Saturday, November 14, 2015.

Doreen was born October 27, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Ernest and Donna Corry Yorke.

Doreen was a lifelong resident of Port Huron. She was proud of her home town and always supported beautification and advances to her beloved city. She was especially proud of the improved riverfront and shared it with friends and family.

Many know Doreen from working at Sears, Arden's, Sperry's and Mary Maxim. She was a 50 year member of First United Methodist Church. She loved playing euchre twice a week and her bridge club of 60 years still plays on a monthly basis. She was very involved with the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Sanborn Nursing Home Auxiliary and was a past member of Gamma Nu Sorority. Doreen loved socializing with friends and family. There were few invitations that were turned down.

Doreen was a hard worker and always maintained a beautiful home and yard. She was very close with her neighbors. They were a family who always looked out for one another. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Craig D. (Amy Greenhoe) Joyce of Lakeport; daughter, Lesley A. (Vince) Kennedy of Brights Grove, Ontario; and she was adored by her grandchildren who lovingly called her G-ma, Trevor, Sean, Michael and Paige Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Dick” Yorke in 2014.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 19, 2015 in First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Pastor William Wright will officiate.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
