Joyce G Chisholm

Joyce Gwenthea Chisholm, 84, of Port Huron, died Friday, January 29, 2016.

She was born December 17, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Russell and Irene Fenner. She married James W. Chisholm on April 30, 1955 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Port Huron.

Joyce was a longtime, active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and also enjoyed Canasta Club. More than anything, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of people. She was known for always putting others first, and for her wonderful chicken noodle soup and cookies.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James; four children, Susan (Bill) Combs, Nancy (Patrick) Loftus, Gregory James (Annette) Chisholm, and Brian (Stephanie) Chisholm; another dear daughter who she gifted at birth but reconnected with 18 years ago, Susan (Jerry) Vagi; 19 grandchildren, James Combs, Jeremy (Rebecca) Combs, Joshua (Heidi) Combs, Justin Combs, Jordan (Jenna) Combs, Sean (Rachel) Loftus, Trevor (Megan) Loftus, Megan Loftus, Rachel (Mark) Wilkie, Cory (Erica Arnold) Chisholm, Alyson Chisholm, Hailey Chisholm, Tyler Chisholm, Devon Chisholm, Darell Nikolle (Benjamin) Baughman, Alexander (Lauren) Chisholm, Shelby (Christopher) Swanson, Joshua (Rachel) Vagi, and Bryan Vagi; 12 great grandchildren, Sydney, Lauryn, Cayden, and Chloe Combs, Alexa Wilkie, Nathan and Killian Chisholm, Jackson and Josephine Baughman, and Owen, Trenton, and Addilyn Vagi; two brothers, Maynard (Betty) Fenner and Roger (Rosalie) Fenner; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Joan Hubbard; and a brother, Lewis Fenner.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Richard E. Hotchkin will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.

Memorial contributions may be designated to either the “Scholarship Fund” or the “Annual Workcamp” at St. John’s United Church of Christ.
