Don M "Mike" Hering

Don Michael “Mike” Hering, 69, of Port Huron, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born August 28, 1946 in Port Huron, to the late Carl and Pauline Hering. He married Beverly L. Landschoot on November 6, 1971 in Port Huron.

Mr. Hering served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a conductor with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, retiring on May 15, 2007, after 38 years of service.

Mike was a member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3702. He enjoyed golfing, camping, gardening, yard work and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Renae (Brett) Tallant; his son, Bryan Hering; four grandchildren, Evan Nathan and Collin Tallant and Baylee Hering; brother, William (Jane) Hering; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Thelma Pokryfke, Sue Higgins, Tom Hering, James Hering, Diana Wyllie and Cindy Cox.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Mark Madson will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps. Pallbearers will be Tom Wilkins, Lenny Wilkins, Jeff Cox, Ron Cox, Carl Hering and Michael Hering.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter #12 or Trinity Lutheran School.
