Barbara E Klaas
Barbara Ellen Klaas, 71, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 22, 2016. She was born June 23, 1944 in Port Huron to the late Ohmer and Ruth Pickett. She married Herbert Charles “Chuck” Klaas Jr. on April 24, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Huron. Mrs. Klaas was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years, working mostly in pediatrics and retiring from Children’s Health Care in Port Huron. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Mary Martha Guild. Barb always had a positive outlook and spirit and enjoyed helping others and volunteering. Everyone enjoyed her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was an expert cake decorator, had fun going to garage sales, and enjoyed doing word finds and watching Wheel of Fortune. She also loved sitting at the river with Chuck watching the boats, feeding the ducks, and eating Coney dogs. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mom, and Christian. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Chuck; two daughters, Jodi (Michael) Salamino and Kimberly Klaas; four grandchildren, Jackie Brown Jr. and Samantha, Michael and Curtis Salamino; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Robert Pickett and brother, David Pickett. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or school.
