Mary J Powell
Mother Mary Jane Powell, 73, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2016.
She entered this life on August 6, 1942 in Port Huron.
Mother Powell gave her life to the Lord in September 1963. She worked at Marwood Manor as a nursing assistant for eight years. She had a clothing ministry for 20 years and served in the Nurses’ Guild. She served her church, All Nations Redemption Center, on the usher board, sewing circle and choir. She loved working with her hands, waiting on the Mothers of the church. She served as president of the Mother Board in her later years. She raised her seven children up in the fear of the Lord and really loved the Lord.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Carmelita (Ronald) Nettles of Port Huron and Joanna (Victor) Agbadu of Belleville; her sons, Dillon D’Andrade and James Hollis of Port Huron and Jermaine (Angela) Hollis of Franklin, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her siblings, Rev. Richard (Gina) Curry of Port Huron, John (Barbara) Curry of Sycamore, Illinois, Joel (Brenda) Thomason and Pastor John (Delores) Thomason of Port Huron and Sandra Wallace of Detroit; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Powell; daughters, Elizabeth Glenn and Deidre Sorrentini; her parents, Joel Thomason and Evelyn Hickman; sisters, Julia, Wilma, Dorothy, Eleveda, Joan, Marva Ann, Betty, Ruth and Carol; and brothers, Ronald Curry and Rev. James Thomason.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 10, 2016 in All Nations Redemption Center with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Superintendent Vincent Matthews will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
