Nancy L Stevens

Nancy L. Gizar Stevens passed away peacefully Monday, July 18, 2016 at her home in Marysville, MI after a battle with cancer.

She was born April 8, 1940 in Port Huron. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard S. Stevens, on April 28, 1962 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Nancy was a 1959 graduate of Marysville High School. She retired from Mary Maxim of Port Huron and was a member of the American Legion Marysville Post #449 Auxiliary.

Nancy’s real and abiding love were for her family and friends. Nancy sought to instill in her children a zest for life, a commitment to staying healthy and active, and the power of a smile. She loved swimming at the YMCA where she developed many close friendships.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; three children, Scott (Andrea) Stevens of Saline, Tod Stevens of Birmingham and Lisa Stevens of Marysville; 7 Grandchildren, Nichole (Ryan) Syts, Dan (Anne), Curtis, Jacob, Megan, Noah, and Olivia “Olive”; 2 great grandchildren; her brother, David (Chris) Gizar of Marysville; sister, Bonita Tomlo of Marysville; many nieces and nephews; and a klatch of enduring friendships. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Gizar and Beatrice Gizar McLean.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. James Arwady will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
