Richard “Rick” Kent Murray, 54, of Casco Township, died September 13, 2016.
He was born July 29, 1962 in Lamar, Colorado. He married Peggy Wetzel on September 10, 2011 in Marysville.
Rick worked as a manager for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Rick was known for being very loyal and he did everything to the extreme. When he loved, he loved with everything he had. When he worked, he always saw it through. When he played, he played hard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything that had to do with the outdoors. He loved working with his hands, building things, and playing his guitar. Most of all he loved his family with his whole heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; his daughter, Ashley (Michael) Groulx; his son, Brent Richard Murray; three grandchildren, Adrien, Addison, and Brody; step children, Caleb and Samuel; his mother, Joan Mertz; a sister, Traci Murray-Castle; mother-in-law, Arlene Wetzel; a brother-in-law, Chad (Jaime) Wetzel; special friends, Tim Hartig and Mark Green; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Mertz; grandparents, John (Naomi) Murray and William (Georgia) Freeman; and father-in-law, Michael Wetzel.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Paul Kruse of Zion Lutheran Church, Bay City will officiate.
Military honors will be under the auspices of the U. S. Army.
