Clayton A "Clate" Larabell

Clayton Albert “Clate” Larabell, 68, of Marysville, died Monday, January 30, 2017.

He was born January 23, 1949 in Mount Clemens to Nellie M. “Darlie” and the late Clarence J. “Nat” Larabell. He married Yvonne L. “Bonnie” Anderson on February 14, 1970 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marine City.

Clate served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during the Battle of Khe Sanh. He was employed by Detroit Edison for 47 years until his retirement in 2016. Clate was a jokester and enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in his yard, and gardening. More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and being “Papa”.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; two children, Paul Larabell and Diana Vargas; four grandchildren, Ashley Larabell, Jeffrey and Katelyn Barks, and Julianna Vargas; his mother, Nellie “Darlie” Larabell; brother, Nathan “Nate” (Nan) Larabell; sister, Nellie (Glenn) Hernandez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Bonnie Klos will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Columbarium, Marysville.

Memorials may be made the Blue Water Hospice Home.
