Orville J Swick
Orville Swick, age 93, with great anticipation, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 20, 2017. He was born in 1923 to Lester and Mamia (Bunker) Swick in Vestaburg, Michigan. He married Wilma Ruth Burggraaf on May 17, 1949 in Grand Rapids.
Orville was a man who wore many hats. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and recently authored a book about his experiences. He was a member of the D.A.V. He worked on the C&O railroad from 1941 until his retirement in 1983. He spent his spare time making maple syrup, hiking in Philmont with the Boy Scouts, piloting planes, traveling with his children and grandson to WWII reunions, and sharing his artistic talents with his family. He always encouraged people to live life to the fullest. He had a passion for fellowship and serving others, whether in his many years of Scouting or trading stories with his friends at Men’s Life breakfasts.
He is survived by his three children, John Swick, Jim (Marcia) Swick and Gloria (Dave) Klinesteker; two grandchildren, Jason Klinesteker and Ginny (Mark) Woods; and his loving family from Westminster Church. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Wilma, and his 4 siblings, Iva, Elmer, Anna and Donald.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Westminster Church, 2501 Stone St., Port Huron, with viewing one hour prior.
