William P "Bill" Thompson
William P. “Bill” Thompson, 90, of Smiths Creek, died Saturday, April 1, 2017.
He was born May 1, 1926 to the late Clarence L. and Barbara Thompson. He married Yvonne Davidson on February 24, 1951 in Lansing. She died June 2, 2012.
Mr. Thompson retired in 2010 after 35 years as the deputy supervisor and director of the D.D.A. of Port Huron Township. He was a member of Marysville United Methodist Church for 55 years. He ran the free fishing clinic for 21 years at the 40th Street Pond and was honored by the renaming of the pond to the Wm. P. Thompson Pond in 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Herman of Wadhams; daughter-in-law, Annette Goike Thompson of Armada; four grandchildren, Jeffrey P. (Jill) Herman, Robert C. (Melanie) Herman, William J. Thompson and Rebecca C. Thompson; five great grandchildren, Ethan, Karoline, Charles, Everett and Mila; brothers and sisters, Richard Thompson, Betty Branch, Walter "Jack" (Clarice) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Thompson in 2008; grandson, Kenneth Thompson in 2003; son-in-law, Charles Herman in 2006; two brothers, Frederick and Robert Thompson; and a sister, Catherine Waters.
Memorial services will be held in Marysville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend Barbara Welbaum will officiate.
