Woodrow Miller
Woodrow “Joe” “Boogie Down” Miller, 62, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
He was born April 17, 1955 in Port Huron to the late James Henry and Ethel Miller. His union to Virginia McMillan began in 1979 and they were married on September 26, 1993 in Port Huron.
Joe was a tool and die journeyman prior to his retirement. He was a family man, loving husband, devoted father, caring son and brother who had a great ear for music and loved to “boogie down.” He also enjoyed mowing his grass and keeping his yard neat. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, telling them stories and eating all the sweets. Joe was full of life and laughter and his smile filled the room with his presence. He also was very tech savvy and loved reading, hearing, talking and talking and talking about the word of God.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a son, Woodrow A. Miller; a granddaughter, Brielle Alexis Miller; father-in-law, Arthur McMillan; siblings, Artie Davis, Alvester Brown, Fred (Helen) Miller, Mary (Donald) McCullough, Charles (Barbara) Miller, Shirley Williams, Malinda Gardner, Leona Lee, Lorraine, Eleanor and Eva Culpepper; a sister-in-law, Arthurine (Wes) Kidd; two brothers-in-law, Todd (Antoinette) and Jimmy Lee McMillan; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and lifetime friends, Danny Gunter, John Heming and Frank Sota. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Virginia McMillan; five siblings, Joyce Marie Noble, Wilethel “Cindy” Miller, Russell “Kuke” Miller, Beverly Swift and James Miller Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Michael J. Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in All Nations Church of God in Christ with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Superintendent Vincent Matthews, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
