Clarence A Oates

August 19th, 1943 to September 26th, 2017

Clarence Alexander Oates, 74, of Fort Gratiot Township went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

He was born August 19, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Willie Mae Oates. He married Lucille Thomason on September 29, 2000 in Port Huron.

Clarence was employed as a cement mason with Local 514 Detroit and Vicinity and as a flooring installer until his retirement. He was a long time member and Deacon at Restoration Christian Community Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, Lucille; children, Darnell Oates, Sharon Reeves, Terrance Oates, Saundra (Netha) Oates; step-children, Karlnell Thomason, King (Shelby) Thomason IV and Davita (Travis) Ricks; many grandchildren; siblings, Virgil, Paul, David and William (Ann) Oates; godmother, Ellen Banks; good friends, Deacon Mike Turner, Deacon Thomas McNair and Sylvester Hillard; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Verlean Willis and brother, Samuel Oates.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. The Reverend Carl Miller Sr. Pastor/Teacher will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
