Richard Bigger

January 23rd, 1933 to October 10th, 2017

Richard Edward Bigger, 84, of Kimball Township, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

He was born January 23, 1933 in Lexington to the late Milton and Ella Bigger. He married Tryfena J. Darby on March 7, 1953 in Goodells Baptist Church.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then served in the National Guard. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years. He was also employed as a carpenter and volunteered for the soup kitchen for many years. Richard was involved with the Boy Scouts for 51 years and a member of Community Baptist Church. He was known as the “Pancake Man” as he cooked pancakes for church functions and the boy scouts.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Tryfena; children, Louis (Janis) Bigger, Lorna (James) Eldridge and Grant Bigger; grandchildren, Richard Booth, Jaclyn Bigger, Jamie Eldridge and Kayla Eldridge; great grandchildren, Brooke Booth, Olivia Booth, Karlinah Eldridge and Kingston Eldridge; sisters, Grace Dudley and Frances Smeckert; brother-in-law, Jerry Loeding; many nieces and nephews; and best friend since childhood, Clare Long. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Conrad, Bruce Bigger, Christine Genter and Linda Loeding.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Community Baptist Church with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Pastor Jim Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Gardens East, Peck.

Pallbearers will be Richard Booth, Jamie Eldridge, John Bigger, James Bigger, Dan Genter and Kurt Genter.

Memorials may be made to McLaren Hospice or Community Baptist Church.
