Jewel R Lindsey

Jewel Ray “J.R.” Lindsey, 77, of East China, died Friday, February 16, 2018.

He was born April 19, 1940 in Alto, Texas to the late Robert and Lilly Lindsey. He married Sandra Tighe on December 4, 1964 at Kinchloe Air Force Base.

J.R. retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant and then was employed by the federal government performing aircraft ground equipment maintenance. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, writing stories and was passionate about flying gliders. J.R. was also a member of the Marysville Lodge #498 F. & A. M.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; children, Sian Lindsey (Bill Ballew) and Kelly (Steven) Densmore; grandchildren, David (Jessica) Damrel, Moriah Hans, Caoilte Lindsey, Faith Densmore and Steven Densmore II; great grandson, Eduardo Damrel; and many nieces and nephews. J.R. was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The members of the Marysville Lodge #498 F. & A. M. will also have a Masonic Memorial Service at 2:00 pm in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
