Joseph Masar, Jr.
Joseph Masar Jr., 80, of Port Huron, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 22, 2018.
He was born August 7, 1937 in Port Huron to the late Joseph and Bernice Masar. He married Nina Pelch on January 29, 1955 in Port Huron.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army. He was an inspector with Chrysler Corporation and a strong union man who served for many years as a committeeman with the U.A.W. He also owned and operated Masar’s Garage in Port Huron. Joseph was a Golden Gloves Champion and member of the Blue Water Aerie #3702. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nina; daughters, Cathy (Bob) Abrams, Sue (Dave) Campbell, Janet (Jeff) Adkins and Barb (Chuck) Smith; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Jerry Masar; and sisters, Jean Kingsbury and Diane (Ed) Jansen. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Arnold; and brother, Gaylord Masar.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 26, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Kelly Pittman will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Thornton, Ralph Sharrard, Joe Marsack, Jack Murray, Dave Moran and Jerry Gill.
