William "Butch" Ginzel

William “Butch” Ginzel, 79, of Jeddo, died Monday, June 18, 2018 peacefully, in his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 9, 1938 in Detroit to the late George and Helen Ginzel. He married Audrey Markoski on October 3, 1959. She preceded him in death on October 17, 1977. He then married Jeanne Jacobs on June 10, 1978.

Butch entered the Army National Guard in 1954. He served until 1972 when he transferred to the Air National Guard. He worked full-time at Selfridge until 1987, proudly serving his country for 32 years. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2009.

Butch loved to fish and hunt, in his younger years. He had an affinity for nature and family. He would take his kids to the beach or creek and pick up rocks, shells, sticks, etc. He taught himself to make model houses and ships with these treasures. He loved to read and learn. He was a whiz at Jeopardy.

Butch and Jeanne served St. Clair County as foster parents for over 35 years. In addition to his own five children, he shared his life and love with over 437 other children over those years, nine of which chose him to be their father, through adoption. He never had a lack of love to share or wisdom to impart.

In addition to his wife, Jeanne, he is survived by his children, William, James (Cathy), Angela (Caesar) Cuellar, Gerald (Melissa), Michael (Mariah), Bruce (Lisa), Evelyn (Jeremy) Rapson, George, Joshua, Eric, Christopher, Melanie, Deion and Tia; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, George (Delores), Joseph (Dorothy), and Dale (Sharon); sisters, Patricia (Dennis) Sudney and Elizabeth (LeBron) Parton; and many, many in-laws and friends that loved him very much. Butch was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral services including military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
