Charles A. “Van” VanNorman, 82, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
He was born December 7, 1935 in Port Huron to the late Clarence and Catherine VanNorman and grew up in Lakeport. He married Marvel Garska on March 20, 1966 in Port Huron.
Van was Director of Maintenance and Operations for St. Clair County Community College prior to his retirement. He was previously employed with Port Huron Area Schools. In April of 1987, he opened Wadhams Country Kitchen with his wife and daughter, Pamela. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, collecting antique clocks and wintering in Dunedin, Florida. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marvel; five children, Randy (Becky) VanNorman, Barbara Frazer, Sharon (John) Charboneau, Pamela Frazer and Steven Frazer; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and his sister, Barbara Gilbert. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert VanNorman; and three grandchildren, Philip Frazer, Cody McConnell and Pamela McConnell.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate.
