Margaret C. Socha, 82, died January 20, 2019, at Suncrest in Lapeer, Michigan. She was a longtime resident of Ferndale.
She was born May 27, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Maurice and Helen Jehl. She married Frank Joseph Socha III on October 5, 1957 in Port Huron.
An alumni of St. Stephen’s in Port Huron, she was a devoted teacher, an active social and political member of the community, a patron of the arts, and a generous contributor to numerous charities.
After retiring from Ferndale Public Schools, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a voracious reader of books, poetry, and the Sunday Funnies - most notably, Peanuts. She loved her Red Wings and Tigers…she liked the Lions. Her beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes warmed the hearts of many. She was kindness & patience, silliness & love, always forever in our hearts. We love you.
She was a beloved and devoted wife of 56 years to Frank; mother to Denise (Kevin) Smith, Karen (Richard) Slotness, Brian Socha, Teresa Young, and Andrew (Wendy) Socha; wonderful, loving grandmother to Barry, Michael, Andrew, Emily, Maurice, Oscar, Bryce, and Brooke; much-loved great grandmother to Quentin, Chloe, and Frank (Frankie); and sister to Rosemary Bruner, and Maurice (June) Jehl. The family would like to express profound gratitude to her Suncrest Family for their caring, kindness, compassion, and love.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited following the service at 6:00 p.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
