Sandra J Girten
Sandra Jean Girten, 70, of Port Huron, died Sunday, January 20, 2019.
She was born August 27, 1948 in Columbia, Tennessee. Her husband, Michael D. Girten, preceded her in death on September 23, 2015. She was also preceded by her parents, Silas Haggard Dugger and Mary Elizabeth Greer.
Mrs. Girten, most knew her as “Sandy,” was employed at Meijer-Fort Gratiot until her retirement. This life certainly brought its share of trials and heartaches her way, but she persevered. Her greatest pride was her four daughters and the eight grandchildren given to her. She was a simple woman and while she may not have had monetary luxuries in this life, she was rich in love. She gave freely of everything she had. She was strong and she loved deeply; sometimes to a fault but always with the best of intentions. She loved to play the lottery and shop on QVC. It brought her great joy to send special gifts to those she loved. She always did everything she could for others. I believe she was a good friend and I know she loved her family. May she rest in heaven, with a peace she deserves after the struggles of the world. We love you Mom.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Rennie, Kelly Durfee, Dawn Girten and Davina (Joe) Stefanides; grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Janae (Jimmy), Kaitlyn, Lauren, Claire, Joe Jr. and Derek; sister, Brenda (Ray) Biazza; brother, Daniel (Sue) Dugger; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Michael W. Dodder officiated.
