Betty J Meyer

Betty Jane Meyer, 94, of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday, September 12, 2019.

She was born October 19, 1924 in Watertown Township, MI to the late Wilbur and Mary McFarlane. She married John Francis Meyer on September 26, 1942 in Port Huron. He died November 13, 2002.

Betty was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of people. When her children were younger, she was the “neighborhood mom”. She would often do things like building ice rinks for the kids to skate on and then inviting them all in for homemade donuts and hot cocoa. She also enjoyed helping the children make crafts. She was a long time member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, John (Brenda) Meyer, James (Cathy) Meyer, and Kathy (Robert) Horn; five grandchildren, Joseph (Lisa) Meyer, Matthew (Jenn) Horn, Michael (Lisa) Horn, Charles (Michelle) Ernst, and Jaime DeSoto; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and a sister Sally Stevens. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Connie and MaryAnn Meyer, and Debra Ernst; and several brothers and sisters including her twin brother.

Private family services have been held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
