Patricia E DiMoff

October 3rd, 1938 to July 31st, 2020
Obituary

Patricia Elizabeth DiMoff, 81, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2020.

She was born October 3, 1938 in Port Huron to the late David and Ottilia Hopp. Pat graduated from Port Huron High School in 1957. She married James DiMoff on October 18, 1958 in Port Huron.

When Pat’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Pat was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was an excellent cook and baker and her family and friends and extended church family benefited from her talents. And if awards were given out for housecleaning and laundry skills, Pat would have them all. She was proud of her home and the comforts it provided for her family. They appreciated the love and care she demonstrated.

For decades, Pat fought cancer and other physical adversities. When anyone else would have broken, Pat stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Pat. Even before entering the hospital for the last time via ambulance she debated her daughter about changing into more formal travel clothing.

Most importantly to her though, was her love of Jesus and the Scriptures. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to embrace her faith and accept Christ. Through her faith, devotion, and prayers each did and passed along their faith to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, James; children, Karen Albert, James (Debra) DiMoff, Beth (Dan) Blythe and Angela (Ted) Chandler; eleven grandchildren; brother, Frederick (Bonnie) Hopp; sister, Betty Ruth Graw; sister-in-law, Rose Hopp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Marie Leach, Reinhardt (Barbara) Hopp, Louise (John) Miller, Martha (George) McDougal, Esther (Ralph) Scheffler, David Hopp Jr, Lydia (Bill) Konowal, Alex Hopp, Margaret Hopp, Andrew Hopp and Judith (Dean) Taylor; brother-in-law, Gerald Graw; and aunt, Lydia Langolf.
