Charles A "Charlie" Parcells III
Charles Abram Parcells III, 71, business owner, of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan died on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital, after suffering a stroke.
Mr. Parcells entered Lake Forest College and graduated class of 1972. He was married to Susan Nagel. In 1993 he got a patent for Sliding accessories to permit in-line roller skating maneuvers equivalent to ice skating maneuvers and started CDS Detroit, a Michigan Skate Accessories Manufacturer. Many of the local teenagers became involved as testers and some became employees. CDS became an unofficial after school program. Here's what one teen wrote about Charlie,
"As an insufferable teen there's people that rightfully get sick of you and those people that answer the door and hang whenever you come around and ring the bell, and he was just one of those latter types that is so patient and unconditionally cool. Really glad to have known him, was always fond of that guy and thought of him as a wizard…"
After retirement Mr. Parcells served as President of The William Lyon Phelps Foundation. He oversaw the restoration projects for The Huron City Museums and gave tours during the summer months.
He is survived by his siblings; Ann, Fred, Katy, Dave and an adoring niece Claire.
Memorial contributions can be made to Huron City Museums, 7995 Pioneer Drive, Port Austin, MI. 48467
