Daniel J. Francek, 76, of Kenockee Township, died Thursday, November 5, 2020.

He was born April 26, 1944 in Port Huron to the late Walter and Donna Francek. He grew up on his family farm in Avoca and graduated from Yale High School in 1962.

Daniel was a mechanic with the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #5585 in Emmett and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and watching baseball. Daniel served on the USS Forrestal in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War (1965-67) where he was wounded during the July 29th, 1967 explosions and subsequent fire.

He is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Christopher) Hudson; son, Bruce (Samantha Lord) Francek; grandchildren, Bruce, Mason and Miranda Hudson; brothers, Douglas (Mary), Walter (Iva), Andrew (Sue), and William Francek; sisters, Joanne (Edward) Mainguy, Teresa (Larry) Cowper, Donna Lee (Kevin) Mackey; brother-in-law, Dennis Sarsfield; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter R. and Donna M. Francek; his wife Kathleen; and sister Linda Sarsfield.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in the Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
